Automatic Database Installation

Do not use this utility more than one time.  It will format and erase your MySQL database if you do.

We have a utility that will automatically install the MySQL database and configure your initial users.  It is called the Collections MAX Database Installation Wizard and it is found in the database folder in the collectionsmax.zip file.

First make sure that you have installed MySQL and it is running.

Then double click on the Database Installation Wizard setup fie to install the wizard.

After the software installs, run it and you will see the screen below.

Click the NEXT button and you will see the following screen

If you installed MySQL on the machine you are on then leave the top radio button selected to "YES".  If you installed MySQL on a different machine select "NO" and you will be prompted for the network IP address of the machine that has MySQL installed.

Click the NEXT button when you have entered the Root password in the Root Password box.


If the connection to MySQL is successful you will see the following on the bottom of the screen.
The program will automatically continue to the next screen.

If the connection to MySQL was NOT successful, you will see something like the following below.

If you entered the wrong ROOT password then please enter a new one and click the Next button again.  If you get something like "SERVER NOT FOUND" then make sure that MySQL is running and if it is running on a different computer that remote root access is enabled and that you can ping the computer from the network.



In the next screen you will be able to set up to 5 users for the system.

After you have set up your users click the NEXT button and the database utility wizard will begin.

It wil take at least five minutes to set up your system depending on the amount of RAM on the MySQL server.

At the end of the installation you will be shown the server login setings that you set up.  Make sure to record these as Collections MAX will need them when you log in.
